The carbon tax is a key measure in the current Australian federal government’s approach to reducing emissions of greenhouse gas and thereby meeting its obligations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the accompanying Kyoto Protocol. In this seminar Jeff Lynn will provide a brief overview of the legal and policy framework for the carbon tax, discuss practical issues and recent developments, and comment on future challenges to the carbon pricing regime.
