This semester 4 students enrolled in Clinical Legal Education are working on a submission to amend the SA Pastoral Lands Act.

In addition to providing thousands of hours of free legal support and advice to hundreds of South Australians every year, the CLE program gives students an opportunity to work on law reform issues of community concern, such as this State wide review of the use of South Australian rangelands.

Students will work with a team of academics from Adelaide University –  Law School, Biological Sciences, the Centre for Global Food Economy – and with members of the Adnyamathanha Aboriginal nation to highlight the need for future focus on the impact of climate change, food security, biodiversity, and Aboriginal interests in these ecologically vulnerable areas.

Students, Nicholas Munday and Andre McPherson, Eleanor Small, and Ethenia Gilsenen Read have already visited  the rangelands as part of the Adelaide Law School Biodiversity Study Tour and are keen to be involved in advocating for policy change in this area.
